Want to make a difference? We are recruiting for a school governor

Mrs Hughes & Mrs Anderton

Mrs Hughes works Monday and Tuesday. Mrs Anderton works Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Teaching Assistants
Mrs Barton works in the class Monday to Friday. Mrs Randall is also in the class on a Monday and Tuesday afternoon.

Children read on a 1:1 basis once a week and as a group during guided reading twice a week. Their books are changed weekly but please feel free to read other books at home with your children. Book levels are assessed by the class teacher.

High frequency words are changed fortnightly; children must confidently read the majority of these words to move to the next phase.

Children will be continuing to learn how to use graphemes to blend (for reading) and segment (for spelling). They will then move on to learning common exceptions and spelling rules. During this time, the children will be taught phonics across the year group and may not always be taught by their class teacher.

The children will be expected to write in the cursive font and will be continuing to learn how to join these letters.  Please continue to use Letter Join to practise the font.

Spellings go home every Friday and are tested in class at the end of the following week. Children are expected to practise these at least three times at home. Spelling books are collected in on a Thursday so please ensure they are in your childs bookbag.

Please continue to encourage your child to practise counting and writing their numbers 0-100. Also familiarise yourselves with the Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs) which can be found on the school website. Children are assessed termly in maths using a mixture of formal and informal ‘quizzes’.

PE will take place on a Monday afternoon with Mrs Hughes and on a Wednesday morning with Mrs O’Daly.

Water bottles
Please ensure your child has a named water bottle with them every day. These will be sent home daily to be refilled.

Please make sure your child’s PE kit is in school every day and is taken home in the holidays. In the cooler months it is an idea to provide your child with a pair of leggings or jogging trousers and a jumper.
